Thornton Camp Grounds. S.E.Qld.

We have just spent the weekend at THornton Camp Grounds in South East Queensland.

West of Brisbane, past Ipswich, through Laidley & then onto the Mulgowie Rd.

The Mulgowie pub is a great spot with plenty of character.

We stopped at the Mulgowie Farmers Market. Lots of local produce. First Saturday of the month.

9 Kms from Mulgowie ( 20 Kms from Laidley,60 Kms from Ipswich ), the camp grounds are on a large flat area on your right. Facilities are very good, especially for a spot "off the beaten track". Caretakers call in of an afternoon. $11 for unpowered,$22 for powered. Second night free.

On a hot weekend we found a lovely breeze all day & at night it got down right chilly.

Very quiet spot, very few cars passed while we were there.

I've put up a video on YouTube of still photos from our time.

A bit of rock n roll as a soundtrack this time.

Hope you like it.

Morning " Fang's Slaves"

Looked at going to Thornton a while back but a couple of things did not align...  Does the caretaker collect the camp fee ? Have an idea I saw something about having to pay at Laidley's Lake Dyer CG ??

Have you been over to the Rosevale Retreat Hotel  ( #668 ) or the Casuarina Camp ( #547 in Camps 7) -  They are  also on the same trip list of sites that may be worth a visit.

We were couple of days at Woodenbong a few weeks ago on the way back from Stanthorpe then Leslie Dam - the Warwick - Woodenbong road is an "interesting" but good drive with a big van & Woodenbong at $5 UP/ night with $2 good showers -plenty of open space and well maintained lawns ( better than mine at home ) was very pleasant.

Keep the camera rolling

Cheers for that.
I think that if you want power when you arrive you stop at Lake Dyer, pay & get your key to the power box.
We didn't need power & the 5th wheeler nearby was self contained as well so we just waited for the caretaker. The lady collected fees while the man serviced the amenities.
We've attended a biker funeral at the Rosevale Hotel. Have driven past a couple of times. Very quiet spot for a pub. Never stayed there though.
There's a video from the area.

Must keep looking at Camps 7. So much to take in.
We hope to get back to Stanthorpe next autumn for the change of season colour.
Slaves ?? Not really. Fang protects us from the evils of the world & in exchange she eats what & when she likes and
sleep where & when she wants. A very fair relationship, really.
