Hi All,  I am a new member and very new to the nomad life style.  As yet I have not commenced traveling solo as one much work a while longer and also look after an ageing Mum.  However in the meantime I am content with some short trips away including Mum and our pet dogs.  It also gives me time to gain my confidence.  I lost my hubby a few years ago but I know that this sea change is being done with his blessing.  I will be looking with interest at fellow travellers tips and ideas.  Would love to hear from others in a similar situation and maybe travelling in the south east of Queenslan

Wecome, Sammie. You'll be an expert before you know it. All kinds of GNs lurk here with an abundance of experience and knowledge.

Hi and welcome Sammie. I too am in the same situation as you. Still have to work for awhile yet but luckily not full time and I do get all school holidays off. Unfortunately school holidays are the busiest and most expensive time to travel but I get away as often as I can for now and may one day be game enough to free camp solo. I too have an elderly parent - my Dad who is 81 and on renal dialysis. I'd love to hit the road permanently but feel I can't desert Dad as I am pretty much his only company and support after losing mum 3 years ago. Hope to catch up on the road one day.

Hi Sammie, Welcome, see you out there on the road sometime....I really should be working on but took out from working to study and adjust to the changes that came about after life did a big turnabout for me a couple of years ago.....so I know where you are coming from....I am going to spend 2014 mostly out on the road travelling and see what sort of work is out there!

Welcome Sammie 54, You have chosen a great place to start - South East Qld was my playground before I hit the road 2 1/2 years ago

Dundreamin, don' dream too long, in case you miss out all together.  We too only got school holidays off and only travelled within 4 weeks of home, and also had elderly mum, but since retiring  early in 2011, and losing mum last November,  the sky is the limit.  Have been on the road now for 2 1/2 years, with regular visits back to the elderly and the young'uns.
