Is this a quilt record?

Fourteen years ago we set off on the big trip around the island, only supposed to be going for six months, so I took a quilt top with me...It was almost finished so I had organized to hand the finished article over to my DiL for safe keeping when we met up along the way.  Well sometimes plans don't always work out....in the days between Christmas and New Year THIS YEAR I finally finished that quilt top!!!!  Now I am looking for a person to machine quilt it because I just know it would take another fourteen years for me to do it by hand!!!!!

It actually looks really good in the new van!!!!!       cheers  Capricorn

Hi Capricorn, I think 14 years would be a record. I started a double wedding ring quilt pieced by hand in 2008 and I am not even half way, so I might beat your record. Would love to see a photo of your quilt top. Brenda.

No, capricorn I'll pip you at the post on that one. 17 years it took me to finish my first quilt. I started a grandmother's flower garden quilt (hexagons) in 1978 and didn't finish it until 1995 when I started doing patchwork seriously. Have been hooked ever since. But I have promised myself to do some mosaicing this month and give patchwork a break. Hope I get to see it some day.

I started my very first quilt when my youngest child, a daughter, was born.

She turned 22 on Thursday.

I think I have about 3 square foot done so far

So quite a long ways to go yet.........

My mother started a bedjacket in 2 ply wool when she was expecting me. She finished it when I was 52!

Could be . My mum started a large embroidered tablecloth in the 1950's and only worked on it when travelling from Melbourne to Brisbane by bus (before cheap flights)   to visit family, every few years.  She completed it and gave to when my brother when he got married in 1999
