What Deck is the Dog Kennels/Creates on the Spirit

What deck is the dog kennels on the Spirit or are they on the same deck as your Motorhome. Do they give you warning to go and get them or you just go and get them when you dock. Thanks

Deck 3 which is the main truck deck, much better to get your dogs when you go to your vehicle, or they will sit in the sun on the wharf until you get them. Our dogs stay in our vehicle for the trip, they are used to it and the majority do the same. They get a good run before we go on and as soon as we get off in E. Devonport at the beach. They love coming back to Tas and always run madly round when we get of the ship, unlike when we get of in Melb, not happy at all until we are well out of the city.

If we are in a car, they stay in that overnight and in the bus when using that. Do know of others who put their animals in their vans before boarding and leave them there. To be honest it's not a good trip for a dog, the cages have mesh bottoms and sides, so if your dog is in the lower section, it can get pissed or spewed on if a rough trip. They are subject extreme noise and heat where they are situated and you have to provide any form or bedding etc.

When we were overseas last, we got the opportunity to see the facilities for dogs on a ferry and they had a lovely area, away for the vehicle decks. Nice and quiet, you could visit them, comfortable quarters with bedding food and water. We saw people walking on with their dogs and were happy to leave them in such great conditions, Sadly our society and government are living way back in the past and don't realise what people expect today for pets when travelling.

My boys travelled in my motorhome when I did my (to date) only trip to Tassie, and will do so again when I go over for next summer, the Whippies would have a blue fit in those crates, whereas we live in the House on Wheels all the time so it is home....they must just think I've gone out on 'the turps' and I'll be back soon!

Just read everyones posts about Tassy.  We went over for 5 weeks last November and I left my girl (kelpie) with my sister because she would not deal well

with the noises.  I did not know that I could leave her in the vehicle otherwise we may have considered that.  As it turned out we did a lot more without her as

Tassy has so many National Parks that we couldn't have taken her.  Cradle Mountain was just wonderful as I had been to Tassy 3 times before and everytime I

had not been able to get to the mountain because of snow.  This time we spent 4 days exploring the area.....just wonderful, and made even better knowing

that our girl was being well looked after.
