I have just driven down to Vic from Qld and am amazed at the stupidity of the placement of rest/parking spots along major highways. I keep seeing signs saying take a powernap and then finding that the powernap stopping places are on the other side of the road.
Yes I am driving down a major highway and I have to cross the road to enter one of these areas which are supposed to enhance safety. OH YES I have a Sixty Tonne "B" Double barrelling down the highway behind me and there is no extra lane for him to pass on my left.
Yup Bureaucratic idiocy.
How many Crashes occur entering or leaving road junctions.
Another one is the habit of putting stopping points at the end of passing lanes at the top of hills. Bad enough when the idiots realise they are coming to the end of the passing lane and want to overtake in the last few meters. So you just have to hope there is not some idiot overtaking another vehicle when they are coming up over a blind crest as you pull onto the highway.
Come on Transport Depts. Australia wide.
You are supposed to be the experts get your act together and use "Common Sense" when thinking about our roads.

Saw the results of similar last year between Norsmen and Kal. Guy with a camper trailer on the back decided to pull across the road to a unofficial rest area, did not realise he had a B Double behind.
Bang. the camper came off and the tug rolled onto the other side of the road. Not nice.
As for passing lanes in Victoria, they are few and far between as I remember. And yet there are signs to say let others pass. When I finally did find a pull over section, it was way too short to keep driving and let the 'zoom zooms' go past. I had to actually stop. So I gave that up as a joke..I'd never have gotten anywhere at that rate!
But in saying that, I know each state has it's fair share of annoyances.
