My husband and I will be driving the support vehicle for our son, Mark's, fundraising bike leg from Cooktown to Cape York at the start of his and his three friends amazing enterprise. If you are interested you can check out their website www.cooktowntokokoda.com. We will be towing a trailer so will have to leave our lovely, comfortable caravan at home and will be pitching a tent every night. Could be a bit of a shock to the system, especially if it's raining! My question for the forum is this. We want to take our two dogs, a Maltese X and a Jack Russell, with us. Is this possible? We will be travelling up the Development Road, overnighting as follows:
Old Laura; Morehead River, Hann Crossing; Ebagoola; Archer River; Moreton Telegraph Station; Eliot Falls; Jackey Jackey Creek and our duties will end at Cape York. We have never been in that area before. I know there is a National Park on the route. How strict are the regulations? Could we avoid it and still be able to support the team? Looking forward to advice from seasoned nomads. Thanks.
If you are going into or even through a national park forget it with the dogs. We went up to the tip last july and we saw people with dogs in a cage on the try of a 4x4 parked in a carpark within a np and the ranger was there writing out a fine which he left on the windscreen.
