Heading to Chevallum, any suggested places NOt to camp at on my way up?

Hi all, I ahve allowed myself 15 days to head to Chevallum near maroochydore for a housesit of two months. I am leaving start of June and was thinking about taking the pacific highway, are there any places I should avoid as a solo traveller? Thanks in advance for any suggested places. Happy Travels.

Pacific Highway would be a good trip - can't really think of anywhere that I would avoid - but check out your Camps book for stopping places would be a good idea.

I would give anywhere near Kempsey a miss and probably Grafton too.

We have stopped for the night at a rest area about 25km south of Kempsey and that was fine.

We stayed this week at a very nice free camp in the Coopernook State Forest north of Taree, about 3kms off the highway. Easy access even for large vans, no reversing needed (lol) and large flat area to pick from. No water though. There were about 10 vans there when we stayed and still heaps of space.

Not sure why the advice to avoid Kempsey, there are some great places and interesting things to see, however if free camping I would try to be at least 20kms from any big place and "joy riding locals".
