Help with my male partner

May I ask what everyone's male counterparts do as hobbies on the road. We are full time travelling so space is limited for him.

i know he wants to do something but really has no idea what,he does a lot of photography and writes a blog but I feel he needs to have something to do with his hands that doesn't take up too much space. He says I am his hobby and while that is lovely I feel he needs something more workable lol

thanks for the input

Di

Why not try accessing the Mens Shed in some of the areas you travel through

The first thing I thought of was building models. Doesn't take up much space (unless he builds lots of them smile )

I think it all depends on the personality of the bloke, or inclination if you like. If he is the least bit interested in the arts and design then maybe he could start collecting strange/weird/misshapen pieces of wood that you find lying around in the bush and then 'making' something from them. Get the imagination going. Scavening the side of the road or dumps is good fun too.
If he likes mechanical things then you have a car and caravan and there are all those bits of maintenance from oilchanges to painting the van. Reading or researching something that has always been in the back of this minds may be good.....maybe family history which you can do easily if you have a computer and internet access. Has he ever done fishing - there's always water nearby even if it's a windmill fed dam. Maybe start a mini herb garden attached to the van.
I know from experience that it is very easy to tell yourself you are bored and even easier to prove to yourself you really are bored. Then you've got to realise it's totally up to you....just gotta open your eyes.
Good Luck.

.. I'm a solo traveller and took up flying Radio Controlled model (electric) gliders .. Clearly I would say it's been a wonderful hobby that was waiting for me ..

If he has an interest in that, then its not really an expensive hobby but great for keeping ones dexterity and metal awareness alive ..

.. after adding a small and inexpensive camera, I too began taking some aerial photos .. a new experience for me ..

That reminds me.

Triathlete injured as drone filming race falls to ground:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-07/triathlete-injured-as-drone-filming-race-drops-to-ground/5371658

"Reports that a drone hit an athlete competing in a triathlon in Western Australia's Mid West are being investigated by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

The filming drone was hovering above competitors in Geraldton's Endure Batavia Triathlon about 9:00am on Sunday when the operator lost control.

It dropped about 10 metres, and competitor Raija Ogden says it hit her."

See if he would like to take up metal detecting, many areas to detect on your travels, a good simple machine isn't that expensive. Doesn't have to be gold detecting, plenty of interesting relics and coins to be found.

I know it's been said before in another place, but if he's at all artistic he could try making silver jewellery, the bent wire sort of stuff. Doesn't take up much space and sells at markets and boot sales.
I've taken to learning to play music (not singing, just playing.) Now I just need another fifty years to get it right.

BEWARE of drone's, some of them require a licence to operate.

Brilliant.  I've never before thought of my voice as a weapon.  I promise if I ever have the good fortune to camp near you I won't sing!

A lullaby yes, insomnia no!  So how's Greg going with his choice of a new hobby?  Is he relaxing enough to develop a new interest or is he still bound up in his past life?
