Thanks John - really want to keep away from generators if I can. May have to up the inverter. The machines only run for a few minutes so total battery drain would not be a lot and we could stop and make a good coffee while between stop over points. smile Bob

I have a ROK coffee maker I purchased a year ago with a view of taking it with me on the road. It uses no power at all after the water is boiled and had proven to be very reliable and portable.

It took some time for me to learn how best to prepare coffee to my liking experimenting with different makes of coffee and grind size and now judge it as 7/10 in taste and 10/10 for quality build,simplicity and convenience.

I believe many pod machines deliver better coffee than the ROK but in a bush setting I doubt a more suitable coffee maker would be very hard to find.

Hi, I've got one of these hand espresso it's 12v uses a single ese pods , just great, I think it came from Kogan. Gives a great single shot espresso, and I use one of those battery whizzy things to froth milk for the wife's cappuccino.

Thanks everyone. We a plunger and a stove top percolator for desperate times but we really love a particular Nespresso coffee capsule blend, so are hoping we can find a machine for our favourite pods. I have sent a query to Nespresso as I have seen both the machine Greg & Shas have and a similar one by Lavazza that take the smaller pods so hoping Nespresso is soon to join the party. Will let everyone know what they say and will also hunt around the Caravan and Camping Supershow in Sydney next weekend just in case. Keep watching but don't hold your breath. We are heading off for a "half lap" in 5 weeks and just tidying up the final luxuries...

Gday bob. Being a full time nomad i find it hard to get my soy cap each day at a consistent price and quality. Think im addicted. So bought my kambrook and grinder from big w bout $70 each. Screwed the machine to the bench. Run a 2300w inverter $350. Powered by two 80 w panels morning star control with 3deep cycle batts. Also run my 800 w m/wave off this. Being an original cheapscate i have the $2 coles choc chip cookies with my consistently good soy cap'--- if i might say so. Cheers and enjoy Bill.

smile Upgrade your inverter to a higher output, this will fix your dilemma for a coffee fix. Bigger inverter don,t always mean you use more power on stand by that you would notice.

Nifty and Steppe - sounds the go to me the more I think about it. A coffee machine to tun on 12 volt would be around $200 whereas for a bit extra I upgrade the inverter and I can run the microwave as well!! Thanks guys.

Bob Dont forget. If you upgrade your inverter you will need to upgrade your battery power. And i also run a s/cheap 600w p/s/wave for sat tv and electronics. Cheers. Bill.

Thanks Bill - will definitely keep the pure sine wave for the TV and satellite. Go for a modified sine wave and an extra battery in the power system for the coffee and microwave. Got the space for it in the van.

I use a plunger and pour the brew over a squirt of cream from a pressure pack (Woolies Select which is much better than Coles). Whipping your own cream is better again but more trouble. I suspect a sprinkle of grated nutmeg and/or chocolate would improve the coffee but I have yet to try that.

I have a little cheapie set of drip coffee makers (Vietnamese style) made with condensed milk but I have yet to try that as well. Got a tube of condensed milk though.

Can't be without my fortissimo & George bought a inverter to manage it ok but still gave my battery a spanking..so it's now a treat rarer than happy hour without my greens lake nutters..but would not be without cya

I love my Atomic because I only need the stove to make it go and I have steam for milk frothing none of those whirlygig things that pretend to froth it

I love my coffee..
I'm having a full self-contained system so I can run what ever 240v piece of Equipment I want[To a sort of limit]..
No I'm not running a Generator, all solar and Batteries..
- I'm actually duplicating a members system from this Forum and he also enjoys his coffee..

It's not that hard..

Two of THESE should do your job..

and depending on the draw of your coffee maker THIS should handle it along with your other power requirements..

I have bought many of these Powerjack inverters of late and they are all working seamlessly..

Glad that I don't have a coffee addiction. We have an Aldi pod machine & frother as well as one of those old drip perculators, both of which are rarely used.

Just instant Indulgence is great for me, though I carry a plunger in the van, but only use it for green tea. I have recently replaced that with a genuine tea pot that we picked up in China (could have got that at one of the many local Chinese supermarkets though).

Much easier if addicted to green tea ... like Matcha & Sencha based .

My current favorite is the Australian grown ITOEN available at Woolworths for <$5. Has both Sencha & Matcha teas in it. Grown in Victoria would you believe? but processes in Japan.

Hey bob. I run three deep cycle hybrid 120 ah bats bout $240 each one in the front boot two central over the rh axles. This will run my machine for two caps if i want to impress some nice visitor with my coffee making style !! Lol. But !!! If i run my m/wave for longer than normal it will rip my batt current down and click out on low volts. For this situation i use the industry standard 2kva honda which will also run my bread maker. However the chonda specials at about $800 are gaining ground if ya want to take a chance. I did before the honda grrrr.

I have 3 or 4 glasses of the ITOEN green with breakfast. One of those tupperware tea pots full. If there's any left over I put it in the fridge to chill it for use during the day.

Then a Chai at morning & afternoon tea.

Coffee after dinner.

Usually a camomile before bed.

I would be looking at the SoC (State of Charge) of your batteries before and after as they should certainly do much better than that..

What size inverter are you using and is it PURE sinewave..

Are you charging your batteries with solar panels and if so what size and how many panels do you have..
