More newbies

Hi we are also newbies, both semi retired and living on mornington peninsula - would love to meet others living down this way. We have a Goldstream Goldwing campervan (off road) and like to get away from it all - have spent some time at the gorgeous Thurra river, camping and canoing/fishing (never caught anything though). We aim to do the "big trip" sometime later this year, however will probably sell this van and buy a pop top before taking off. Pop top should make for quicker and easier set up and pack ups.

Welcome to the gang MandG, enjoy here and out in the playground.

There ate a few members down around your base camp area so hope you get to meet some. You have mentioned meeting others so you have made the first step.

I have a Avan Camper and only takes 30 seconds to put up but if doing the awning as well takes 30 minutes, old guy rope and pegs trick, that only goes up if staying for more than a few days in any one spot. Not up at the moment though as set up own the side of my daughters place here in down town Townsville. So agree with you setting up quickly and easily is the way to go, more time for happy hour.

We are also Newbies! We have a pop top and it is so convenient, not so much worry about low branches etc, and a dream to pull down and put up as long as door and some windows are open.  hope to see you on the road soon!

Hi MandG and welcome, you too Tedmim.
I was down at mornington recently with some visitors from New South. I had visited there for short visits but never stayed before and I had a lovely time. So much to see and do. I'm in Melbourne but you don't do a lot of this stuff unless you have visitors do you? I will certainly be doing more of it in the future. We camped right on the bay and watched the shipping movements etc, very interesting. Just loved the day spa down there...my visitors were gardeners so the gardens and mazes were spot on for them. I would love to catch up next time I'm down.enjoy the forum.
Tess
