Unsure of a remedy - but wonder if you have midgee bites? Where I stayed in Kununurra I had hundreds of red itchy midgee bites - and so did others -got so bad I moved camp.
Anyway the wind blows......doesn't really matter to me!!

Try baby oil and Dettol mixed if you think it's midgies/sandfies.
My father used it years ago, had lumps as big a thumb nail from walking down Darwin River Dam waterway, it was the only relief he could find.
He used to put it on his legs thereafter to prevent it when fishing in boat.
Try a small path first on non sensitive skin ie shin/ankle would be my suggestion.
Why is it so? Professor Julius Sumner Miller, a profound influence on my life, who explained science to us on TV in the 60's.
Tiny red mites torbuthat bite leaving an enzyme that makes you itch. Very annoying. Called trombicula.
.
Heat up a spoon under a hot tap and put it on the bite. It kills the enzymes that are causing the itch.

An easy, effective, no cost remedy. Works every time.
