Cowra.

Currently in Cowra, staying at the Cowra holiday park. Great little spot. The owners are lovely, cannot do enough for you, big sites, plenty of them. Bore water on tap, however rain water tank available for drinking water. Not filling up of vans though, you can do that in town. The amenities are a hoot, straight from the sixties or seventies, the tiles still look like brand new, and are spotlessly clean. I am not sure if the gents have blue tiles, I have taken pics of the ladies.

Great camp kitchen and camp fire. Owner has the fire going every night, puts on a wide variety of music from the 60's and 70's and before. All different genres. Bought back some memories.

I received a discount for being a solo. $27pn. Booked for 2 and ended up staying for 4, mainly because of the weather closing in.

Park is approx 5km from town on the Sydney road. $15 per a taxi into town, one way.

Certainly worth a stop over.

Great park, I have stayed there several times.
I enjoyed the heated indoor pool there too, do they still have the pool?

Oh Shekon, while you are there you should go to the tourist information centre and watch their Cowra Breakout Hologram and POW Theatre.
It is free and it is one of the most brilliant things I have seen.
The hologram is of a little girl telling the story of the Cowra breakout. It is BRILLIANT!!!

Hi Baute,

Yes they still have the pool, however I have not taken to it in this weather. I have done the tourist things, including the hologram show. It is amazing, so much to learn. We were taught about the breakout, however not the full history of it. Of course these documents and details were kept secret until not all that long ago. This year is the 7oth anniversary of the breakout and there are celebrations planned in August 1-5th.

It is an interesting place to visit.

Great place, went to high school there. Grew up at Wyangala Dam and did my primary schooling there. Well worth a drive out to the dam for a look Shekon. My mother still lives in Cowra.

I must go there too, I've stayed at Carcoar which is only about 50ks from Cowra but haven't  ventured there. It's a lovely area and I must see more of it.

I worked around that area while Nesles built their Frskies plant at Blaney. We used to take a weekend trip from Blayney to Bathurst, Orange, Canowindra, Cowra back to Blayney. Magnificent country.

Would be a bit chilly now though I think.

Enjoy yor travels
