Hi just wondering what brand of tug you choose , im thinking about a my 14 turbo diesel triton auto ,we have a 17foot avan espire , so it's not that heavy ,just after some more opinions thanks for your input
I have a MY14 4x4 Triton GLXR diesel turbo with a 17ft StarCraft OB van.
Tows well, though you know you are towing, currently getting 17lts/100km towing & 11lts / 100km local driving. (I am told this will improve with more km's).
I am going to travel around Oz next year & the only things that worry me are the weight issues:
1. A supposed weakness in the chassis when towing & loading up the ute space. Not sure if it is a real issue or just a story, but I have put an extra leaf in the rear springs, just in case. Mitsu won't do it, you have to go outside warranty to do this. I have done this, no problems at this stage.
2. To assist above, they say to keep the load between the wheels, so a roof rack is advised. The roof is only rated for 50kgs (including roof racks) so there is not a lot of things you can put up there, especially if you plan to leave the bitumen.
Summary: Good vehicle, perhaps not as tough as they say. Will know more when I get back for trip, next October 2015.
