Another flare-up

Just when I thought I was improving (temporal arteritis) & was due to start reducing my dose of steroids next Tues.  last night it flared up again.  Headache & soreness & swelling in the artery.  So off to the doc this morning & my steroid dose was upped by another 25mg.  So now taking 75mg a day.  Makes me a bit jittery (like standing on the brink of a precipice without a parachute) & it's hard to get to sleep at night.  See what happens when I go back to dr on Mon.

I have great sympathy for you. I've just had a flare up of Ulcerative Colitis again, and have had to return to Prednisone. 40mg so not as yucky as your 75, but enough to make me jittery/crazy too.

I know a few people who have to take regular high doses of the stuff, it's not nice at all.

Hang in there. smile

Gosh - no good at all - take it easy - hate that jittery feeling when you start on new medication. Had it a while back, but settled down after a while.

Beth - no good re the Colitis - and long term Prednisone is not good in so may ways - some long term effects are sometimes the result - including diabetes.

Take care, both of you!!!

Yes, I get the moon face too. It has also affected my bone density.

Crikey - I hope I stay as healthy as I am now - I take only four pills - antihistamine (has helped with my snoring, apparently), Cholesterol lowering - which is a preventative (family history), aspirin (for blood thinning), and a "happy pill" - to keep me happy!

Yes Beth bone density is a problem. I am taking calcium, vitamin D & a special pill once a week. This one has to be taken first thing with a glass of water & then you must remain upright for at least 1/2hr or so & then you can have brekky.

Yep, I take all those too, but mine is once a month. Same thing, remain upright etc. I also take Centrum over 50's for women, fish oil, magnesium for restless legs at night, and a whole bunch of other prescribed meds for heart problems. Yes, Prednisone has also caused havoc with my heart.

GD, I really don't understand why anyone (athletes) would willingly take the damned things.
