Hi All,

Whilst we became members over a year ago we have been doing our due diligence and are now the owners of a March 2013 Forest River Rockwood 5th wheeler & an Iveco 2008 50C18. We are looking at retiring at the end of 2015 & taking off around Australia for 5 years + or so.

Have set up the van with running almost all systems off 12volts, (large 200ah battery, 250W solar panel, additional backup batteries & 3.6KVA generator, as required).

We are heading off to Adelaide then back via Victoria in mid October for nearly 3 weeks for our first shake down trip.

We are interested in finding out from fellow & experienced travelers on the following:

1) What is the best way to store such items as Glasses, plates, pots/pans & cutlery in the cupboards & draws.

2) What are the best camp sites & free campsites in Victoria for our trip back from Adelaide that would suit our 32ft 5th wheeler and little dog.

Looking forward to meeting many of you on the road.

Cannot wait to get go, starting to smell the roses !!!!!!!!

Welcome to the site - hope you learn lots from the members.

Looks like a great setup you have. You will need to make sure to look for sites that take big rigs, and there are a lot, the camps Australia wide book will let you know. One really good place in Victoria is Greens Lake, on the Midland Highway at Corop, near Rochester, and 50k from Shepparton. Large area, and a summer haven for Grey Nomads.

Ask questions, reply to posts, meet up with other members - lots of fun to be had!

I use cheap stubby holders for mug and glasses covers. Non slip matting can be bought from the cheap shops to put between plates. Our pots and pans are in a drawer and the tea towels travel around them. Cutlery is in a drawer with dividers same as at home. I am sure others will give you ideas too.

Hi All,

Another question for the wise & experienced, how do you store/secure items in the fridge.

Thanks

Catherine & Geoff

How,

I try and wedge things in, lay things down as much as possible. Happy hour drinks etc I lay down in a plastic container so they don't slide around as I prefer drinks in glass not cans cos glass is better.

Hope that helps in some way.
