Welcome to the gang legendgj, enjoy here and out in the playground.
As to your question, there are more "on road" caravans travelling around Australia than " off road".
Me, I will be picking up my new van this Wednesday and is not "off road" but the suspension and construction would handle some non bitumen roads with care taken.
IMO for what it's worth, no caravan is truly a "off road" caravan. They will get thrown around so much things inside will get damaged. Although a very good suspension system should help in that area.
If I want to check out an area off road I intend to park up and go off in the the Tug to explore.
Enjoy the playground.

Giday,
My brother did the big lap in a 16 ft Coromal with the wife and 2 kids.
He had no problems and didn't miss out on much at all.
I have an upgraded 18 ft Coromal myself and haven't had any problems getting anywhere as yet.
