Macedon to Menzies Creek near Melb

hi All, new grey nomad here. We pick up our new van ,16' jayco, and our first trip is to Macedon in Victoria. That should be fine. Now the boss wants to go and visit some relies on Menzies Creek Rd in the Dandenongs. Does anyone have any info on which route to take? Google sends me through Melbourne and as its my first trip I prefer not to go that way. And then there is the winding through the hills with the van, any info there? Not sure if there is room at relies house, so maybe any suggestions for parks nearby?

thanks

Steve

Can't help too much but if you are going through Melbourne there are a few toll roads which you may possibly want to miss. I have rellies in Macclesfield in the Dandenongs and there are also some quite narrow roads up there as well. May pay to give your rellies a ring for advice!

If we knew where you were starting from we may be able to assist. If you are coming from Gippsland it's a bit hard to skirt Melbourne, you may as well pay the tolls and travel good straight roads.

Here are your parks around Macedon. Click on the pins for more info links. Suggest you learn the http://myparklist.com site as it contains a wealth of info on parks.

Hi
If I was travelling from Macedon to Menzies Creek I would travel down either the Calder or tulllamarine freeway to bell street and go out through Heidelberg and on to the Maroondah Highway. The roads are good and traffic is ok depending on the time and day you travel. If you go to "where is" it will give some alternate routes you can take.
Camping up there I'm not familiar with but there if sure to be something closeby.

Hi Steve,

If it was me straight down the freeway through the tunnel stay on toll road then freeway turn left Wellington rd. Keep going for about 15kms Menzies Creek Rd  is no your left it is a dirt road. I have only ever ridden Menzies Creek Rd on my bike so I did not take any notes of how wide it is but you should not have any problem. You will need a day past for the toll road. You will save a lot of time plus fuel using the toll road.

I just checked the map the road is not dirt anymore, its been a while since I have been there but the road is still in the same spot.
