Brunnings (not Bunnings!) make a product called ANT KILL 1litre spray bottle - lasts for ages - and it works! Been using similar product for years, never have ants in the MHZ. Available at Bunnings, though I got mine in a "cheered shop" for $8!!!!

I use a product called Ant Sand from various suppliers in the hardware shop or supermarket.
Very effective both inside and outside the van works in a very short time to eliminate ants.

Ants need moisture, so PERSISTENT infestations may indicate that you have a leak somewhere that is creating a moist area in the framework. Might be worthwhile checking it out.
If the above fails try Andro from Bunnings very very expensive but just a few grains sprinkled on the ants track or in a cavity where they are will kill all of them.
This stuff is a bait which the ants take back to their colony kills the lot of them. So you dont have to spread poison all over the place.
I have found this very effective for getting rid of ants that can track into the house or under paving etc.
As I say its very expensive to buy but lasts for ages and does the job so works out as a cost effective product overall.
If your van is parked up in an area where ants can be or are seen then talcum powder spread all around the wheels legs etc on the ground can help keep them out. The ants will not cross over the talcum powder, usually anyway. I always carry a container of Woolies home brand in the van just in case I see ants on the ground around the van.

A couple of cans of Mortin Roach or the Flea bombs in aersol cans will move them. use one inside the van on a sheet of news paper and if you can get access to the frame to fit the nozle of the second can into same. Let them have the whole can in the frame and they well be gone for good.Come back in two hours and the van will smell like roses.

I read someplace that castor sugar mixed with baking powder would stop the buggers. Seems ants cant burp or pass wind and the baking powder blows them up.. I haven't tried it as yet so it may be a furfy.
we had them at home a few days ago heading up beams outside and into the ceiling (we have raked ceiling). Mixed up solution of Laundry Borax, Castor Sugar and hot water - soaked cotton wool balls and placed in milk bottle tops and left in their tracks. They showed up in their hundreds and not seen any after one feeding frenzy! Now keeping a bottle of the solution and supply of milk bottle tops handy for future needs. I believe they cannot digest the borax mixture and when the ants feed on the dead ants, they also ingest the Borax. They say when ants head up to the highest point (in a house etc) it is a sign of rain!

We had ants, got some ant rid, worked wonders. Just dropped about 6 drops along the trail they had, the ants surrounded them and cleaned up all the ant rid, no sign of them today. Great stuff.

Since first reading this thread I found those very tiny ants in my home pantry & one kitchen drawer as well as on top of the sink & cooker area in the van.
I picked up a box of 4 ant baits at the local supermarket and stuck them under the pantry shelves & the side of a drawer as well as around the cooker area.
Not an ant in sight 3 days later.
(I usually use borax & caster sugar in a jar top. It works too but more slowly).
I believe it is best to use a slow acting poison - long enough for the ants to get themselves and the poison back to the queen before they all kick the bucket or move house! 5 days since we put the bait out and no ants since day 2 ...... fingers crossed!
