Sullage hose outlet

Hi all

Can anyone tell me a logical reason why a sullage hose outlet can not come out the rear of the caravan instead of the side ?????

Thanks

I think because most times the sullage waste inlet in parks are beside the cement pads (sites) where the power boxes are too.
Sometimes they might differ, but most are like I said. Hope that helps. Cheers, Sarg.

This is going to be interesting, I for one spent an afternoon moving my outlet to the rear from the right hand side as most c/p I have been in the waste point was at the back of the van. Really I use a bucket as it only the the sink water waste that we have and with it near the corner of the van I notice it more and just empty it, not big deal.

Some as the hose for the water found most c/ps are up the back along with power so why have them down the side and the water up the front, maybe I need more experience. Ralph

Thanks very much for your comments

I think if I tell you why I asked the question you may under stand more. Im fitting a grey water tank and because the outlet was originally up on the chassis (SAFE) now it is a lot lower
maybe 180mm and not so (SAFE) I feel it would be safer going out the rear of van maybe.

There is no reason why you can't run your sulledge hose which ever side end or where ever,as just been stated some pits are on the side some are on the rear, some don't even have one, then ask is it alwright to run it to a tree,or under next doors van (only joking), I have mine right hand side at the rear wich can go to the rear or side without any hassle .

I think you have asked a very valid question.

My reply is that some caravans tend to drag their rear ends when entering and exiting driveways of servos and parking spots. There is a risk of them being damaged if they are hanging out the back

With the pipes are located just behind the axle it is unlikely they would be damaged by a scraping rear end.

I am leaving mine just where they are.

A couple of photos would be good.

Here is my hose outlet and water hose in plus the extra tap for water when outside. The wooden plug is to stop the wasp building a nest.

I normally have a very short hose from one inlet to the out on the water but I was in need of some ends at home.

Yes, we'd have said same reason as KFT. Maybe we're wrong.

Nice work the photo, like my outlet I don't believe rocks will get it. But then it could, like winning the lottery.

I did have a rock take the water outlet of right along side the tank on our off road camper, that was a bit embarrassing stop to pick up fire wood oops no water out the back of Broken Hill after about 15000 ks of dirt roads.

It was a dead (very stiff and hard) kangaroo that took our water tank out by cracking it. No rocks involved.

Thanks every one for there comments , Ive come to the decision that I will face it out the back. But I really don't think it
make much different may just a bit easier to support it out the back. I think I might make a new rear bumper to help
protect it.

Thanks again

I think caravan manufacturer just want to save a couple of $ by running the outlet short.
