Heard something interesting today on the radio. Apparently a study done to see if people who are constantly on Facebook are addicted showed that yes they are. In fact, the responses in the brain were similar to the responses when addicted to poker machines. I'd like to read more about that study. The brain can change the pattern of addiction with F/B and break out of it but not with addiction to drugs.
I like them both, in moderation.
I think face book is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends when on the road.
I have reconnected with a great deal of my childhood friends through facebook.
At least I'm not addicted to grog. I'll write more on that when I get back from the pub
Hardly ever gamble .. I guess due to growing up around race horse people as we had a few trotters...
Yes we use Facebook as comunication with friends, family overseas..
We don't say what we do day to stuff though.. Or personal family things..
Isn't a forum like this similar to Facebook? You post comments on topics you like and respond to others posts, same thing when you think about it.
As for Pokies, Love winning...... Hate Loosing but either way there is an element of entertainment that goes with it be it a bit mind numbing.

Facebook addiction, sex addiction and so on are the inventions of tabloid journalism - for instance, of the scripted 'social commentary' shows on The Box, where the news is being made, manufactured, rather than being observed and reported upon.
I'd say that The Box truly sucks life away, for very little return for the time spent and at risk to health.
I place very little reliance on surveys. The overwhelming majority of surveys are scoped and designed to deliver the results wanted by the person/mob who sponsored them. It is just a case of buying something to use later for influencing and lobbying, with hopefully the slack media picking it up and promoting the messages without drawing their audience's to the limitations of the survey.
I wouldn't say that the ABC and SBS are always immune either from giving oxygen to spin from sources they seem to prefer.
