Another newbie here making a pre-purchase enquiry about Ford Ranger as a tow vehicle and any faults experienced. I .currently own a 2010 Pajero which has served me well and is due for replacement
G'day and welcome to the forum. I suggest that you confirm with the ford company to see if the problem with the drivers seat has been resolved in the newer models. the seat slowly lowers its self over a short period of time. the problem is still outstanding on the 2013 Rangers and BT50s. it is a recognised defect but they claim they are at least 2 to 3 mths away from a fix.
Cheers Jack

Welcome to the gang d&d, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Nothing wrong with the Tanger as a Tug. Nice vehicle.
I have a 2014 Colorado 4x4 Diesel Twin Cab Ute with canopy and love it. It is pulling a 2880kg Den with eze. I particularly like the "Selective Shift" when towing.

Welcome D and D. We have a 2012 ranger xl diesel dual cab. It drags our 2600KG caravan about in fine fashion. We get about 13.9L per 100KMs on tow and 8.8 about town.
We have issues with the drivers seat as well, but being 6 foot 3 it's not that bigger deal for me, ford have promised they will fix it.
Enjoy our crazy forum and this amazing country.

Where I work we have 2 x Ranger free style cab tray tops, One ranger single cab. And a Mazda BT50 single cab. They all have the smaller motor. The faults we have had, are a fuel pump went faulty on one, an oil leak and fuel caps being broken by doing them up too tight. These are all the latest models, but the Kms will be getting up.
I have brought the BT50 with the 5 cylinder 3.2 motor. I got the free style cab as there are only two of us to travel, I am planning on getting a 5th wheeler to tow. The free style cab allows the passenger to be able to lean their seat-back back, and have a snooze while on the go.
I chose that vehicle as I liked it to drive (at that stage I was driving the BT50 at work), it had the biggest motor of the main stream utes, and the 5 cylinder was report ably very smooth.
It is a bit heavy to steer and park around town, but that's with no load on the back. Acceleration is very good, it is smooth and dosn.t suffer from the turbo lag. When I drive our vehicles with the smaller motor, I certainly notice the difference,
