A good tonic for a sleepless night

The hours do drag along slowly during a restless night.

A hot cuppa tea and a thick slice of fruit cake , yep .... that helps

i tried  a few nips of ginger ale and whiskey but that started to lead to a bad habit... I put the brakes on that .

There must be some sleep provoking activity  ?

Arousing the brain too much at 2 am is not the way to go.

Going  for a late night stroll to observe the moon and stars used to be a good thing

long ago when I was more able.

bugger  .... these  sleepless nights are so ....  not good... !

cheers from. Paul

What makes it worse is knowing that everyone else is asleep, patty.

Depends on what is causing the sleeplessness.

For me, it's not being able stop thinking about things, I have found audiobooks are a good solution. I have a bluetooth speaker and use the audible app on my phone (which will play audiobooks I've downloaded from the library) and have found some "good" narrators like Scott Brick, who are very even with the narration (some books and narrators aren't even in the volume level) and puts me to sleep in 15 minutes, I set the sleep timer in the app to 30 or 45 minutes.

The only downside is finding a book to interesting to fall asleep.

Instead of audio books you could listen to podcasts on your phone instead. There are some great ones on the ABC site. Or listen to the ones from the John Laws show if you want to get to sleep real quick :)
