More at Wuruma

I had done my shopping in Biloela and forgotten the honey and now that I don't carry sugar that was a big deal, but I remembered Jamie's Delivery Service and I expect it to arrive at my door tomorrow Thursday. Spent Tuesday afternoon getting set up and most of this morning then Pearl was packed up ready to go to Moura and came to visit, we had an enjoyable hour or so discussing places of interest whilst camping.

Had a quiet afternoon and rounded up what wood was left from my original pile and went down to the dam for a walk to see if I knew any of the current campers. There were a few that I remembered, so that was good, but Tom and Dennise were away and I will catch up with them tomorrow. Am fully set up now so tomorrow will pump up the kayak and look for suitable spots for the opera nets.

Not sure what I have done to my left rib cage but have a very sore spot at the bottom and it is painful to cough. It feels like when I broke a couple of ribs in Tassie but not nearly so severe, I have had no traumatic accidents so it must be a strain. Early this year my doctor prescribed antibiotics to reduce inflammation and authorized a repeat which I didn't need, but got anyway. So I am on a course of antibiotics to attack the internal inflammation.

Didn't pump the kayak in fact did nothing but rest all day except for a stroll down to see Tom for happy hour. The rib cage seems a bit better so another day's rest should see the end of the problem. Been watching the American TV show Banshee at night from the hard drive, have two series with ten episodes so that is almost twenty hours of entertainment, a bit over the top but has it's moments.

Friday morning and feeling a lot better around the rib cage but will take it easy for another day will get the kayak out and pump it up but no paddling for me today. Had an interesting day, Rob whom I met last night at happy hour came up to discuss camping grounds in Central and Northern Queensland. He has only just started out on the road and is heading for Townsville and as far north as Inninfail then inland in a loop back to Emerald. I made the following recommendations:-

Dawson River Moura

James Hewitt Weir Baralaba

Bedford Weir Blackwater

Bundoora Dam German Creek

Lake Elphinstone

Home Hill

Giru Town Rest Area

Saunders Park

Bluewater Park

Toomulla Beach

Balgal Beach

Bushy Parker Reserve Rollingstone

Ingham Wetlands  see Info centre

Bilyana Rest Area

Tully Showgrounds  see Info centre

Fred Drew Park Innisfail

Archer Creek Rest Area

Junction Rest Area Corner Savannah Way and Kennedy Highway

Fletcher Creek

Cape River

Theresa Creek Dam

Emerald Botanical Gardens

All these camps I have stayed at and reported about on the blog, most allow several nights but some are just overnight stopovers. All are listed in Camps 7 but Ingham and Tully are new probably in Camps 8

Later Ric arrived, we met last year here and I reported about him on the blog and forum, he is doing up a massive bus and will be setting off in it later this year. He is coming here to camp in his caravan in a week or so and has joined the fishing club, he is hoping to plug into power from the club when he comes so we will see if that happens.  http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2014/04/still-at-wuruma.html

Saturday and I feel great, two days of rest and antibiotics did the trick and off I went in the kayak to find locations new for the opera nets. The sunsets and sun rises here at Wuruma are not as spectacular as the ones at Greens but I was up early to capture this mornings offering. You can't get the dam and the sun rise or set over the water from my location at Wuruma Heights like you can at Greens.

During the afternoon Mike (Ethanol)  arrived and is camped next door for a few days, we hadn't met but he had run into Billeee and Jules at Carcoar Dam and told them that he would be heading for Wuruma and here he is. Always good to meet up with members of the Grey Nomad's forum.

Sunday and off I went paddling towards my opera nets with more success than from the previous location. Had a meal of red claw with boiled potatoes and cheese sauce for lunch. I am living rent, power free and not using petrol also getting a free feed from the dam, how good is that? Keep this up and with nothing else needed I will have the next cruise paid for in no time.             John

Mate I hope the pain has stayed away and you are enjoying your Wuruma camp. We were not very far from there during our visit last year.

Have only recently been reading these reports.  Well done John.  I might start putting up my monthly report as well.
