Fran, the photos are, as usual, great. I'm not a solo traveller. Haven't been for 53 years or more and no regrets, but i do look in here regularly because you guys do have some great times to tell about. My question for you is, and I ask because we are intending to go to Wilpena Pound next month, where in South Aus. is Pildapa Rock. Is it feasible to include it in a journey to Wilpena ( we go to Broken Hill from Wilpena). I know I know its along way between the two but its something that has got to be done NOW. Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Friar

Friar - I will answer for Fran - Pildappa Rock is about 16k west of Minippa, which is west of Kimba, the halfway point across the continent.

If you have seen Wave Rock in WA, you ain't seen nuttin!!!!!! - Pildappa is a wave rock most of the way around it, apart from the incline area, where you can easily walk to the top of the rock, great scenery - and interesting things on top of the rock itself, lots of pools where water sits when it rains - apparently the wave effect is caused by water running off the rock.

Can you tell I like the place!!!!DSC01542.JPGDSC01544.JPG

Fran, Jules, thanks for your prompt replies. Yes Jules we have been to Hyden W.A. and seen their Wave Rock. Since asking the question i've done some research and we think that with what other things we've got planned Pildapa may be one step too far this time around.

Thanks again Ladies

Stay Happy

Friar

Well they say live and learn.  I thought that the only Wave Rock was in WA.  This looks so interesting.

Your photos everyone are great and I especially found interesting the one with all the info on it.

When I eventually go West I will have to check it out.

Panther.

We left our van there and drove in through and around the national park there
some really good scenery and an old sheep station where we viewed the old shearing shed
We had a few feral cats come around at night time
