Hi ya'all

Hi ya'all,

I am getting ready to vamoose. I am fitting out an old caravan for solo travelling and hope to be ready to roll first quarter 2016. I plan on keeping it fairly remote, want to be able to enjoy the starlight. The thought of going deep bush is a bit daunting for safety reasons.

I am fitting the van out for a "roughing it" free camping lifestyle. Whilst I am not a "prepper" I have been researching that approach to staying out in the boondies for weeks at a time.  Cooking with rice and beans whilst being cheffy enough that I dont dread the evening meals. Bush tucker is good too but I haven't a clue how to gather.  As a kiddie I used to take a .22 when we went camping but these days that doesn't seem practical. Hunting seems out of the question unless you want to make a mission of it.

In a previous life I flogged around the scrub in ATVs and regretted I couldn't just stop and talk to the trees. This time I want to dawdle with a camera or sit under a tree with a book or stop and yarn with the folks. Such experience as I do have of bushcraft is probably going to be irrelevant to this new sortie, so I am going to start from scratch. "You know nothin John Snow" I do know the Eastern Goldfields / Kimberlies / Pilbara quite well so would like to make my way up the East Coast for a change.

Look forward to making your acquaintance.

Cheers for now !!

Welcome to the gang "John Snow" enjoy here and out in the playground.

Keep an eye out for the "Mother of Dragons" when out in the bush though she is a bit hot and you could get burnt.

A good Solar and Battery set up and some sort of water storage would see you out there for longer periods at a time.

Keep Safe out there.
