Hi Everyone
This is my first time on the forum. My husband and I are from SA and we are starting to plan our 6 month caravan trip and was wondering what time/month is the best to head up through the centre and then over to WA. Also I would be most grateful if anyone can tell me places that we 'must visit' on our travels.
Many thanks and cheers
Kim
Unless you are a masochistic you don't want to be in the far north of this country anytime between October & March. Not only is it hot and humid it is the cyclone season.
In your shoes with only 6 months I would leave Adelaide in late March letting you see the best of the country in the best weather.
You can time it to be coming down Great northern Highway Mid North WA in Wildflower season, early September, which will blow your mind.
Enjoy your trip.
Cheers Neil

Thanks heaps everyone. So it looks like we leave late March. Dougiewe the 'Wild West' is where originally all us good looking ones come from. Ha ha. Has anyone got any 'must do' things that, apart from the usual places, they would recommend.
Many thanks everyone.
Cheers Kim
Hi.We left Nth qld last july due to circumstances we are trvelling clockwise around oz.Alice we reckon is great having been there a couple of times.W.A. however,we have found any where north of Carnarvon is a great waste of space.Tragic countryside, tragic towns.Dirt and dust.Top price paid for ulp $199.9/lt.Lpg $169.9/ltWe did however spend 2 weeks on the Ashburton river near Old Onslow which we enjoyed.Plenty of fellow campers, even a 70th birthday party. We free camp whenever possible.Water is the biggest worry. We have 3 82lt tanks plus another 85 lt in smaller containers.Currently at Robbie Robbins Reserve approx 20k out of Darwin.$35.powered,$25 unpowered.Because our van is overall 32ft we tend to stay on the hardtop most of the time but have been adventuress occaisionally.Whatever you choose to do,have a safe trip.
