Good afternoon campers just joined but not sure about the Newbie tag.have had several caravans and motorhomes over the years, having just retired, had the cancer as you do, my wife and I have down sized to a single axle Avan towed by a D-max.
The problem caravan sway.Tried most of the fixes ,had the water tanks full then empty.one gas bottle then back to the two.tyre pressure up to 40 psi.just the one spare tyre on rear bumper.ball weight has been 135kg to 145 kg.caravan tare 1400kg.
comments I have received as follows;your axle is out of square with the chassis.you have the worst tow vehicle it being a ute no real weight on the back axle.you need a weight distribution hitch its a fix all.
What I would like to fit is a AL-KO AKS3004 stabilizer, as you see fitted to most of the European caravans. This unit is a perfect fit to the AL-KO L14 all ready fitted. This unit works similar to the English Mongoose where by it grips the tow ball by friction slowing down side ways movement.
my question, has anyone had one fitted, does it get in the way of the hand brake lever. kind regard to all bill
