Welcome to the gang spyderman, enjoy here and out in the playground.

You have done well for your first post as it is in the right section of this great forum. That said though, I thought you had joined up some time ago as a " Spyderman " was around a short time ago. Maybe spelt different.

Now, can't help with the deisel heater sorry as I chose gas everything and more than happy. I also haven't heard of a deisel hot water service sorry. Just a deisel heater to keep warm.

Slightly OT (you love it Dougie) can I ask what brand and what price your gas heater?

Welcome Spyderman, I too have no knowledge of diesel hot water apart from knowing you can get a water/room heater combo in diesel. I am sure they would be very efficient.

A diesel heater is one of the best things anyone can put in a van - quiet , cheap to run , odour free , safe and efficient . Makes caravanning a pleasure no matter how cold it gets. This concept has been used for years in Europe and USA in truck cabins , RV's, crane cabins and boats because of the extreme cold weather at times in these areas. Their use has only recently become more accepted and widespread in Australia particularly by caravanners.

This is a Chinese company that pretty much sources virtually anything but this is the only other Diesel water heater I have found.

Webasto (German) sets the standard.
I purchased one, but have yet to install it.
It will provide hot water, central heating and will pre heat the engine if required. The engine can also heat the hot water.
Very versatile and a fraction of the cost of gas to operate.

Mmmmmm, Although it might assist any others tuning in to this topic and interested in Gas as an alternatrive and I am not one to take a topic as that is left upto KFC biggrin I have PM'd you Delta smile

Is anyone aware if the Webasto type diesel heaters can be installed on a wall with the long axis perpendicular to the ground/floor?

Some calorifier can be if they come with a slip in pipe that extends the outlet (which is on the bottom when vertically mounted) up to the top of the tank. I have the Webasto system in the OKA. Pretty expensive and complex but it heats 20 litres of water and runs three fan heaters, can preheat the engine for cold starts and also heats the water and the inside of the house using engine coolant when driving.
