Ibis 3 aircon noise

Hi guys I have a new van with an Ibis 3 roof top aircon, when it cycles in and out it sounds like a bag of cement being dropped on the roof. After an hour of being run it only sounds like half a bag being dropped. This is the same on mains or Honda power , cool or heat cycle. Do others with an Ibis 3 have the same noise ?

The performance of the aircon can't be faulted (ie) cools from 42 and heats from 5 degrees.

Yep, that's why they're termed "rooftop thumpers" old technology in a fancy box at a fancy price !

In past vans have had every type and model including the Ibis, all IMO are noisy, we now have a real AC, a Fujitsu inverter split, it works and quietly.

Air Command make the Ibis. Get a hold of your dealer or RV manufacturer and A. Command will send you the ph no for their local service agent who will come to you.

The Ibis 3 has an electrical problem - not connected with your problem, but I have the previous model with a similar noise which they will repair under warranty. Their service staff said noise like this is usually cause by 1) bad installation 2) capillary tubes fault.

Got to agree about the Old Technology.

My old 1999 Air Command is a real thumper.  Under the very large cover is something that looks as though it was made in someone's back shed.

My problem is that over time the massive cover has warped & from time to time one or other of the two fans touches the cover as their mounting rubbers perish or whatever.  So up on the roof I go to make adjustments .. until the next time.

Hi, we have the same problem with our new Ibis3 and have been in contact with Aircommand with this issue to no avail. Now that the warranty has expired they seem to have wiped their hands of it, they said they had a kit out to fix the issue but now they are not supplying the kit anymore till they get feed back on how good this kit works to solve the issue.
