Lemon Law

I have had this since it came out in 2011 but have only just come across it as they are in the review mode of the laws pertaining to vehicle trades .  So if you have a problem stick to your guns  especially with stated tow capacities which are always over stated

Hello Wombat 280

This is the first time I have seen something in writing, concerning what I had assumed to be, an Urban Myth, so thanks for that information

Interesting post Wombat, unfortunately there is still no "lemon law". I've attached a link which is 6 days old and says they are still thinking about it - no doubt due to lobbyists in Canberra paid for by the car manufacturers, so it's still an urban myth.

Good Luck.

Can you give details of where this was published. A link to it would be good.

Whoever penned that gem failed to include the bit about the suppler having the option of repairing rather than replace the goods.

I'm not sure of the editorial source of the paper clip or it's print date but I think it came from the motoring section of one of the major motor section in Sunday paper in NSW Date unknown .

I went to the link Camping provided but in the closing para it contains the following so we are no better off after reading both.

"
The department is also considering if any changes are required to so-called lemon laws, to better protect consumers where goods repeatedly fail to meet expected standards. Submissions close on August 24, 2009."

I do recall this all started back in the days of the then new  Ford Capri  with leaking soft tops  and a young call drove around Sydney for months  with a giant lemon attached to her Capri and Ford got real snaky tried to take court action to no avail and eventually gave her  the full dollars back  in some backdoor deal and no more was heard .

Hey Micko

You have my sympathy.  If your a member of a caravan club give your Caravan Club Association an email or try the Caravan Council of Australia, they can be helpful.  Nothing worse then spending all that money only to discover you bought a dog.  (No disrespect to the animals intended).  Ours is 6 months old and we have been trying to get some things fixed for the past 5 months.  Hopefully we will have a resolution soon.

Thanks Bob

Never thought I would be stitched up but they got me . We have a page full of faults from a certified workshop including unserviceable  wheel bearings after 2000 ks .Have a solicitor acting for us now so hoping something can be sorted soon. Picked the van up last December after retiring and setting off on the big lap , at this rate we will take a few years to get one lap in .

Cheers

Mick

Unfotunately there is nothing unique about the situation you find yourself in.

Preserver and you will get there.

Our travel plans for this year have gone out the window. We will still get away, not where we planned.

Good luck.
Bob
