Am involved with a TV Aerial install and cost is a limiting factor. Would like to install a Phased Array aerial similar to the Winegard HV on our caravan, but the only Phased Array aerial I have come across are UHF units similar to the Jaycar unit below ( or on ebay at around ˝ the price, Quality?) that are only Horizontally polarised.
Will also hook it up to a GME/Kingray masthead amp, but will need to check re the voltage as most Kingrays I have seen require more than 12v to operate.
Is there a Phased Array aerial available for VHF/UHF with horizontal and vertical polarization at a reasonable cost on ebay.
Hi all;
A phase array antenna @ UHF frequency is not all that big in size and quite manageable, as for the VHF frequency the problem would be the size and weight and let alone the wind factor. A good Log - Periodic antenna that would cover both UHF & VHF frequency would be a good place to start. I did quiet a few Kms with a Log - periodic antenna/32 Db gain kingray amplifier and a small 12 foot painter pole ( telescopic, collapsed down to 6 foot ). This set up worked for 90% of the time. Now i have a Vast satilght set up and haven't looked back.
The other problem would be is the polarity of the signal, horizontal or vertical. While most areas use vertical polarity some areas are horizontal polarity, and there are a few areas that have both.
I have run many GME/ Kingray antennas off 12 Volts DC and never a problem, ( mhw24 or mhw34 ) come to mind.

The Jaycar one you gave the link to works on vertical polarisation if you mount it correctly, you just turn it 90 degrees and it receives vertical polarisation. The biggest problem with it is that it does not receive UHF (CH 5 - 13) signals.

In our last van all we used was the happy wanderer old plastic T bar areal and we had reception just about everywhere, now with the new van the and new roof mounted aerial I really don't think it's any better than the old T/bar...
G'day PeterInSa ,Have a look at Explorer RV antennas , I have the C3 model and it can be mounted Horizontally or Vertically and is amplified and I get TV any where that there is a signal of some sort . It comes as a complete Kit and you only need to buy a mounting pole . Bushy .
