As you are a newbie, quickly,
Go have a chat to the AEO and register as a person of no fixed address and that allows you to not vote legally but if you want to vote you can as a absent voter under the last address you were registered at. They will issue you with a letter saying that. I just voted in the last Federal Election as mentioned and works well. I couldn't vote in my last State Election and that also worked well.
You can use a family member address for postal and get them to let you know something has arrived and tell them what to do with it. One way is get it sent to you C/- a post office you know you will be at or are already near. You just go in and pick it up after showing photo id. I also know that works.
