You need to turn element off. On the outside , open your hatch or grill that says Hot do not touch , in amongst all the wiring at the back is a switch for 240v , turn off. This is for 240 and the one inside is for Gas.
Cheers
Mick
My hot water service is under one of the seats so I can lift the cushion off and access the unit. There is a power point alongside the unit which I switch off when parked up at home on power. My last van didn't have a power point (well I never thought to look for one), I turned it off using the switch on outside as Goldcoaster said. Well that switch finally gave up , not expensive to buy but a real pain to replace. The switch in your cupboard if it has a "red light " that comes on when switched on then that's for gas. Hope that helps.
Cheers Owen.

When you disconnect your power, water and sullage prior to leaving a site and travel on the road, the water level in your heater tank should and will remain full till you stop again and connect up at the next park or off road site providing you don't open the HOT tap.If you are worried about it,connect your water before your power and open the hot tap to bleed the system before plugging in. The heater tank is full and sealed till the hot tap is opened to drain water out and it is above the tank anyway. If you are that worried about it then switch the pump on when you travel, but it isn't really necessary in modern vans anyway. My van has a switch in the cupboard inside next to the HWS and it hasn't been turned off for 5years which is the life of this particular van.Never had problems with other vans either.
Hi all. Ive found the 240v switch and turned it off. Its all new to me and im trying to learn about the van and all things on it and in it.
Over time ill decide weather to leave in or turn off. Cheers anyway.

I think what kezngaz is asking is how to turn off hot water while parked up (at home with power on the van to charge batteries ect). He may want to drain water tanks and clean them out, if you drain tanks hot water service included and have 240 volt to van you must isolated hot water service or you're gonna burn out the heating element.
Cheers Owen.

Yep, been there and done that, burnt the element!!
I got tied of having to turn the 240v off at the heater. I installed a 240/12v relay that allowed me to turn the 240 off/on with the simple flick of a switch.
