WaterPure by BioMagic question

Hi all,

I have found and read one forum thread on this topic but this thread looks like it was running a couple of years ago.

I am wondering if any more members have used this product and can offer any further comments on its usefulness.

I use the BEST filter to filter all water as it is added to my tanks and I have a filter tap on the sink. I recently went into a store to get a replacement filter for this tap and was shocked at the price of the replacement. Over $100 for the single filter. The fellow in the store directed me to the WaterPure product and suggested that if I were to use this on every tank I added I would no longer need to use the filter on that tap as all water coming from the tank would be pure anyway.

My question is, have other members used this product? Do you think that the advice is sound? From what I have read about the product it sound like it could be but I want to see if others have first hand experience.

An example of what I would like to confirm is... if I go to Greens Lake and fill my tank from the water source located there, filtering through the BEST filter, and then add the WaterPure can I then safely drink this water?

Cheers,

Hi Mike, I only filter water into containers at Greens then pump into tanks. I have a 10lt plastic container I have filtered a second time I sit in van for drinking only. That's at Greens or similar. I am currently running all water through my BEST filter into van then an extra filter fitted to a drinking water tap. I have only had a new BEST delivered today at $110 from F'Gully. I will be picking up a new filter for the drinking water tap in van when back near Melb. $68.00. Filters are not cheap but not adding additives to tank.

I have used the stuff for the last five years.  Never had any gastro troubles and the water has always been topped up from normal house water sources.

I do have a full cartridge filter as well which I change very two years. I bought three at $40 each (On Special)  I also clean the water tank every six months or so by topping up to just below capacity and adding a whole bottle of Milton Steriliser to the tank driving about for ten mins or so then emptying the tank, refilling with fresh water then adding Biomagic at the recommended dosage. The Milton I use is in a light blue bottle and is used to sterilise baby feeding bottle and the blurb says it's  safe for babies.

My partner has lots of medical issues, Half the normal digestive tract, diabetes Type one and two, Gluten intolerance and the list goes on. She rarely has digestive issues with drinking our water and when away from the Motorhome uses a similar product . ( Coloidal Silver) A few drops in a jug of water.

I would recommend Biomagic anytime.

Thanks Doug. I am going to look at a different option for water filter on sink in time. Is there a reason you don't like adding additives to the tank?

I think if you can get away with NOT adding anything it must be better. IMO.

I did use a BioMagic filter prior to the BEST. I use the BEST now as the water looked much clearer. Greens is a good place to test things like that as you would know. I too will be running Milton through the water tanks before I leave Townsville as they haven't had that treatment yet. I don't think there is any problem in them as they have been drained all this time but Milton won't hurt. It doesn't get left in so all good.

Mike, I dont know what make your tap filter is but $100 bucks is way too much.

Mine is a Shurflo and the replacement filter for it is $52. from caravansplus.

may I suggest you shop around and the above place is well known for good pricing.

I have never had to add chemicals to my tanks but I am pretty fussy where I fill from.

I run the BEST filter it's expensive as it uses silver ion exchange resin to kill bugs + carbon to strip out the chlorine. (price of silver is the reason for the high cost), you may find that using a pre-filter 5um and carbon filter before the BEST will increase the life a great deal. (These are the type people run under their sinks and are quite cheap) Problem with carbon alone is that it removes the chlorine from water, with time bugs start to grow in the filter and eventually they are no longer sanitary and bleed through into your tanks. (In my case if a silver containing filter is fitted after the carbon it will kill the bugs and protect your tanks.)
Sydney water is quite good out of the tap but after BEST filtration is definitely sweeter.
