I have been a member of this forum since 2014 but non-active.

Following the seemingly increasing number of caravan rollovers I feel it could be assistance if I post from time to time on this topic (of caravan instability).

It is an area that I have been involved in professionally for more years than I like to think about - and have noted 10-15 (a day) members of this forum reading my articles on caravan and tow vehicle dynamics etc on my website.

There are increasing rollover events - of which most are seen as random - but are demonstrably not.

As I am a technical writer and publisher I seek feedback and guidance as to what I may and may not discuss whilst staying within forum rules. (I have read these but am unclear re the boundaries in this very specialised area.)

Can I for example provide a Link to a totally related in depth article?  Such articles are free to read but are on my website that carries advts for my books - and so on. (My long experience is that people who seek advice on forums do not buy books (!) but the perception of self-interest is nevertheless there.)

Thank you.

I will post an article soon that may surprise. Australia's leading traffic engineer and I have independently realised there is a causal relationship between specific caravan rollovers and identifiable circumstances. We have come together to present this in both technical and reasonably non-technical terms. (research shows it was It was suspected as far back as 1981 (by an NRMA engineer) but not taken seriously at the time).

But must first sort out protocols re posting as explained in my above post.

Many thanks for the post Collyn, and for checking in with me regarding the forum rules.  I would be happy for you to post information that would help people to have safer journeys.  You have mentioned that your motivation in posting is not to sell your books, but to provide information that will help others.  We would welcome your input on that basis and would be happy for you to post any information on the forum that you may have published elsewhere.  However, we really cannot allow posts that link to your website. We have developed our 'no links to commercial websites' policy because, as our forum got bigger, so did the desire of potential advertisers to use the forum to promote their business, services, or products.  As we were (and still are) keen to protect the editorial integrity of the forum, we felt that a blanket ban on all posts to commercial websites was the only fair approach.  I hope you understand and look forward to your input.

Well put / explained Cindy seems like quite a fair and reasonable policy to me.

I fear that the condition that I post reference material directly on this site massively compromises copyright. This is because copyright of all posted on a public forum reverts to the service provider (i.e. not necessarily this forum).

Following looking through some threads I am concerned that many members of this forum are taking my articles from my website and/or the CMCA's The Wanderer and publishing them here (in whole or in part) - removing both my name and my company name and even the copyright notice. One example is gas risk in caravans - where it is done several times.

I must ask that members insist on members cease doing so - not least as is legally comprises my company's copyright. I also ask that any such be removed.

Sorry about this but I cannot post any further.

PS from Webmaster: edited to remove commercial link
