standard size for slide out 'external' kitchen???

I was considering leaving a space for a future slide out external kitchen on the DIY caravan/trailer I'm doing.  Doing some googling on slide out kitchens I still haven't come across what might be a popular/well known brands to get the measurements from.

I was thinking a slide out that has: sink, gas burner, cutting area, a couple of small drawers.

Any feedback re whether there are some well known/popular slide out kitchen brands/models?  Else perhaps just what dimensions might be good to allow for, i.e. width/height/depth inside the van.

May i suggest that if your building your own slide out that you first decide on brand of cooker top and sink unit first.
Take a look around a showroom of already assembled RVs then take some measurements for the slide?
The chances of finding one with the exact measurements to fit your RV would be slim i would have thought, unless you have built the RV with this in mind, including the structure to support it.
Good look with the project, ill look fwd to some pictures!!!!

I made sure I knew what size and where to buy an access door which would suit the slideout kitchen I made for the bus. Another point which might be of interest is that I was advised to buy a cooker with a flame arrestor for the bus, I presume it would be the same for a caravan. I used a Lido 2 burner with griller ( w 500mm x d 280mm x h 170mm ), Smev 3 burner stove and sink combo with glass lid ( h 150mm x w 970mm x d 430mm ), Smev 4 burner, 3 gas, 1 electric with griller with gas safety cut-off ( w 600mm x d 550mm x h 260mm approx. ).
Sink sizes, Smev drop in bowl with fold down tap ( w 420mm x d 440mm x h 145mm ), Smev s/steel sink with drainer (w 650mm x d 380mm x h 145mm ) or ( w 590mm x d 370mm x
h 125mm ), Camec s/steel sink with drainer (w 780 mm x d 480mm ). Just a few sizes I had handy in a catalogue.

Cheers Rob.

Hi mixedup, yes I made up a unit where the cooker folds over the top of the sink and then they slide back into a box which is in the space under the bed. The cooker is the part at the end to keep it away from the bus and it is supported on a two part stand so it can be adjusted up or down to keep pans level etc. The sink unit is fixed to two sliders and then the whole unit slides back inside. I don't like cooking inside unless I have to. So far I have made it up in painted plywood to make sure it all worked and when I get time I will make up with in a 20mm square frame and covered with aluminium sheet. I have those plastic knock in corner pieces that hold the square aluminium section together. The only thing I might have changed if I was to do it again would be to possibly try to use one of those external shower units for the hot and cold water tap which could then be temporarily mounted to the sink. I find keeping the hoses out of the way a bit of a problem. The gas plumber made me house the rubber gas hose inside some garden hose so that it wouldn't wear. Happy with it so far.

Cheers Rob.

very interesting Rob - did you post any pics of it yet? So you pretty much made everything yourself except the sliders then it seems?

Have you thought about having a look at some of the new off road camper trailers because they have all sorts of slide out kitchens and such. Take a few photos and get some ideas. Good luck Phil.
