Flickering Led indicator lights on trailer.

A friend asked me to see what I could do with this issue. Now I have designed several systems and most worked OK. The problem was how to house the thing. It is on a boat trailer pulled by a Land Rover. My problem was always the thing had to be water proof. One had relays and that's always bad news on DC. My latest is the simplest yet and rather than having a box it will be encased in plastic.

The question is, is there any demand for this thing other than a one off. If there was I would probably create an etched board which could be supplied as a kit or built.  Sure I know you can buy the thing now, but the price is high. My unit is based on a 555 chip and a FET transistor at a cost of about $2, the main cost is in the wire and plugs etc. Rob

To fix the problem I put a resistor on each of the wires - Stop, Park, Left & Right indicators.

They cheap enuff on Ebay.

I just bought 2 x Rev.Br/Tail. Indicator.
300mm long IP7 Waterproof.
$19 for 2 del.

They the narrow units 50x25 so I can fit at top of Tray canopy.
As an addition to std lights.
Just for extra rear indicators and neat.
They similar pricing for full depth.

I put a set of updates to my small boat trlr coupla yrs ago.
In and out of water all the time. Never miss a beat and bright as.

What I could do with.
Is a LED torch switch modified from Multi flash etc, to a straight on/off.

They bloody annoying, and always play up after a while.

No Rocky that's not it. Some vehicles use a system whereby the put out a short pulse to test if you are towing a trailer. This pulse is short enough and low enough not to light incandescent lamps but it is enough to cause a LED to flash. Treecrest used resistors, and on some that works, but not all. We tried that first, Rob
