We are back after our maiden voyage 70 days away in our Jayco Journey Outback.
Well what a trip of fun and pain. On checkout at the Auburn weighbridge here in Sydney we weighed in at 5.88 tonnes with full main tank of car 138lts and full water tanks 2x 82lts of the van. The car 3.58 and the van 2.30 coupled together.
Our Van with its J Tect Suspension Plus the ESC makes for towing with our 2012 GX TTD a great stable rig at all speeds. The car had power on tap and loved to trot along at 102kph in 5th accordining to the odometer at 1800rpm when the wind was in our favour. When it wasn't we could find 90-95km at 2200rpm and drinking more then I had hoped for.We were
I found driving without the cruise control when heading into the wind far easier, as I hate the car kicking down, racing the motor to keep near the speed limit.
When the wind was in our favour I offen found the odometer looking and placing it back in cruise mode. Over taking slower vehicles was not a problem what so ever.
Our total trip covered 14609km with side trips included.
Our trip took us to Forbes- Dubbo - Broken Hill- Peterborough- Port Augusta-Flowers Bay- Kalgoorlie- North to Linster- Sandstone- Mt Magnet- Mulluwa- North up the Mulluwa - Carnarvon road to Carnarvon- Exmouth.
Return to Carnarvon for Van issues to the bole holes- Qubba Station- Carnarvon Van issues- Geraldton- Mulluwa- Pinda (wreath Flowers)- Mt Magnet- Linster- Kalgoorlie-Flowers bay- Ceduna- Wudinna- Port Lincoin- Tumby Bay- Port Neil- Arno Bay- Port Augusta- Renmark- Hay- Wagga Wagga- Yass- Sydney.
We will do a journal and the highlights in a few days time, as its time to cleanup a get ready to do it all again.
Hey Jim, sounds like you both had a good trip, hey.
I wondered where you had got to as not seen you around for many moons. I was starting to think you got lost over there in the'Wild West'. I was thinking of sending the braves out to look for you both.
