Toyota Coaster Conversion DOT Qld

Hi to all readers, I would like to convert a Toyota Coaster bus to a motorhome, and would like to know what I need to do in in terms of getting DOT approval to convert and what I can and cannot do do. I am considering a slide out lounge? Thank you, Bob.

Welcome to the gang Bob, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Nice rig the Coasters but I haven't seen any with a slideout. I agree wit CC, go direct to the people that know the exact answer.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

There is a company in Springwood Brisbane who import Coasters among others and convert them to Motor Homes. If you are within striking distance it may be a worthwhile exercise to visit and see what they do with their conversions.

I think they are Called The Motorhome Conversion Company.

One thing I have never seen on a Coaster is a slide-out. It may take the weight of the vehicle over the weight limit to drive on a car licence. Something to think about.

The other thing is to find an automotive engineer to advise on ADR's so you are legal. The DOT will have list of certified engineers local to you so you can consult them.
