New Member Saying Hi....

Hello all,  I'm brand new to the forum.  Hubby is retiring in a couple of months and we are going to be taking off on our big adventure.  Currently talking about a 12 month trip, although I wouldn't be surprised if we don't last that long.  We haven't even purchased the van yet.  Still doing our research. Hubby is an engineer so he is anal about researching.  Any advice for which van is best??? I am sure that is highly subjective, but tips on what to look for would be appreciated.  We are also planning on travelling with my cat, Molly.  Who actually thinks she's a dog anyway.  She walks on a leash, and is a predominantly indoor cat at present, except for her daily walks.  Not sure she will love the car, but I have a couple of months to train her up for that.

Anyway.. basically just wanted to say hi, and introduce myself.

G'day TracieLouise and welcome to the forum.  As you say choice of van is very subjective, but if looking at the big lap etc then definitely look for fully self contained and make sure your weights are all legal.  Also if you havn't towed a large trailer or caravan before it is probably a good idea to do a course.

Loads of great folks and information on here and don't be afraid to ask questions - we were all novices once.

Hi and welcome. I'm also new.

I will hopefully have a second hand caravan mid November. Just waiting for some term deposits to mature. Lots to do and think of and prepare for. All very exciting.

Cheers.

Thanks all for the lovely welcome. We have already eliminated some possible van contenders. Headed to the Van show next week in Brissy. Mind you, we have been to the caravan and camping show every year for the past decade. But now finally ready to pull the pin. Look forward to reading more posts and getting more wonderful advice and info. Nice to "Meet" you all, and maybe one day catch up on the road.

Hello TracieLouise

I hope that I am not too late to welcome you, and your hubby, to the forum

It is very hard to say which caravan is the best, and/or what items we should have, as we are all different
I suppose that is one reason that there are so many different types of recreation vehicles out there

In my opinion, (so I could be wrong).
One way is to ask a manufacturer to build something to your own specifications.
Another way is to list all the things you would like, and then pick something which ticks most of the boxes, and your budget, and just adapt to what you choose.

I hope that whatever you choose, ticks all the boxes

Tongue in cheek
As you have also introduced you cat Molly
Our cat Crystal would like to say "Me how"
