INTRODUCTION

Wife and me returning to Brisbane from UK in a couple of weeks to start our big adventure - or our "pensioner's gap year" as our friends are calling it - although having now sold up all our interests in the UK, this time we will be staying for good.

We are shipping over a British made caravan (so no off-roading allowed) and really looking forward to sharing your experiences in our own particular style. The van weighs in at only 1440kg all up so we don't need a big "chugger" at the front - thinking about a Land Rover 2 Td4 auto. Any better ideas - let me know.

Have some house sits lined up so should get a gradual introduction to life on the road. So far, we only plan to travel the east coast as far as Cairns and down the bottom end as far round as Adelaide - we might even look at tripping over to Tassie sometime - travelling with the seasons in mind and got some friends there.

I'll post whenever we get something worthwhile to share, and I'll keep on reading of course.

Gday Dave welcome to the forum, we have just returned from tourin the UK and had a fantastic two months clocking up just over 2500 miles we hope you enjoy our big playground, the west is certainly worth visiting and the crossing of the Nullabour during winter months is a terrific trip if you take your time.

Thanks to all you Aussie 'vanners for the warm welcome. Can't say how much we are looking forward to joining you to experience the "Great Outdoors" - but it's so easy to get carried away with a dream, and turning the dream into reality is proving to be a bit of a hard slog at the moment.

We are definitely coming back to Australia late November and I am trying to stay positive about our plans to import a UK made caravan - but getting mixed messages on that one.

The importation paperwork is like trying to run through treacle. I am having difficulty finding someone to carry out compliance modifications, and the "general opinion" on the forums is not sounding good on insurance.

But - WE WILL DO THIS THING !!

Hello PULLANDPUSH

I hope that I am not too late to welcome you to the forum

I wish you luck in your endeavour in importing your caravan

If you could keep us all posted on the trials and tribulations, of the paperwork/alterations required, then that would be great

Hi all - things just not gone to plan (see my post on the "GENERAL" forum) so I think we will not be joining you on the road anytime soon. Could still figure in our longer term planning so may just see you later.

Thanks for your encouragement and enthusiasm. Happy Camping !!
