For those utilizing leveling blocks/mounts with a trailer mate. The manufacturer/supplier in Adelaide advises that the Trailer Mate plate is placed on say 300 x 300 piece of checker plate.
This allows the trailer mate upright unit to move when the rig releases from the tow vehicle and not cause damage to the shaft.
Believe me I know from experience and have personally picked up a replacement shaft in Adelaide from the supplier of Trailer Mates. AND for those "cheap skates" out there there are several imitations of the real thing. The real mickey mouse trailer mate is around $400-.

Hi John R,

like you I purchased mine from repco 18 months ago and because they mucked me around it was discounted to $300
I even got a hat in the package along with the brackets and wheel and flat plate
trail a mate also do a blue mark 2 version which is capable of atm o 3500kg (mine is red and has atm of 2900kg) and it has a 60mm shaft (instead of 50mm)
so you do have to use the bracket that comes with it
maybe the mark 2 version is $400
