As most people who have retired or are planning to travel about and want to show family and friends what they are up to well,
I have decided to take photos with my phone and still camera and as a added bonus got myself a drone.
Its a Phantom 3 Advanced Model and it very easy to fly and I am spending time just getting used it and flying about and learning how and why it does things.
I have posted my first flight that I recorded and edited and maybe a bit poor but its a learning curve and it will keep me busy as I will fly and record place we stop at and some we visit that I can get a better look at from above.
It has limits in where you can fly but if careful can get some great shots

I'd be careful taking drone vids in a suburban environment, particularly when posting on the internet. Other wise go for it. My mate in Cooktown has some awesome vids, including crocodiles, the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan at Pandanus in FNQ( with permission) and his trips. Also, make sure you have permission to fly the drone and take vids. It is the same as still photography, respect and ask permission. Watch airport perimeters and Military Areas. Also, if you see someone irate pointing a 12 gauge in your drones direction, make sure the home button is set at 250 metres and very fast!
I have to say that it has been pointed out to me that I don't have a drone but a Quadcopter which unlike the toys most kids will get at Christmas
is not a toy but a camera platform for the more special types so my family says..
Not sure how I should take that ?

You can get yourself in the poo very easily with drones. We saw a bloke fly one over a junior girls netball game & he got hammered by the girls parents for perving at their daughters. The drone suffered damage as well.
