My air con has dandruff

Hi, The aircon in our van appears to have dandruff, it blows white dust when we turn it on, does anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this.  thanks Dave.

It is possibly the foam filters in the unit disintegrating.

How old is the unit and have you checked the filters ?
