First check and see if you have 12 Volts @ the end of your coax cable that connects to your LNB. Next is your LNB could have failed and the only way to check is by replacement. We had a LNB fail in tassie over Xmas and had to get a replacement when we went through Hobart. Unless you have the correct equipment to measure what ( if any thing ) is coming out of the LNB a spectrum analyser is one way to check. I payed about $20.00 for my LNB. Try and get a sharp single output LNB as i have found that these are about the best on the market and are the brand that foxtel use. Also a 80 cm dish makes alignment that much easyer. Some of the electrical wholesaler may be able to help or a company that specializes in television reception /satilight reception.
Sounds like your dish?LNB are off direction. Remember small adjustments work the best.
Good Luck !!

At a guess Jim I would think you have hit the wrong Satellite. There are 4 in fairly close area so is is not hard to do.
What Sat Finder do you use? There are programmable types that will only respond to C1 which make life easier.
Personally I never set my dish up with angle finders etc, I have an idea of the direction and elevation required then 'scan' the sky with the dish til I get the correct hit.

I tried switching off and disconnecting the cable both ends and started again. Back to 72% Quality only.
Sooo, I took myself off to camper Sat at Thornleigh just now. Closed up. Looks like he has just walked off and left everything. Called the Ph numbers and they rang out. Bugger.
I have done the same setup over and over in the past without any issues. That makes me think its the LNB playing up.
i'll try give it another go, then I will hit E bay.
I see a seller of refurbished LNB for $12.90 odd with 300 odd sold. Why so many one dose ask?
I may just have to cough up yet again. That's life.
We had the same problem with 0 strength and found after much frustration that it was the cable. We bought a new one from a supposedly good store and without checking it threw the old one in the bin. It was not until friends loaned us their cable that we found the answer to the problem.
Hope this helps

I am thinking if you are getting a quality indication and no sig strength then there are a couple of possibilities
1. On the east coast start with LNB at zero and slowly rotate clockwise(looking from in front of the dish)
2. You are aimed at the wrong Sat. try searching in very small increments
3. your satfinder is selecting the wrong sat. Try going back to the list and selecting C1/D3 again
hope that helps

I'm so sorry at you are still not up to date with life. D Cave, also known as a man cave = Garage. D Runway is what's known as the Driveway that leed's to ones Garage. K...... K = ok.
I don't really know why you think you are funny. Cause you are the one that laughs first.
Try growing up for a change and contribute with either a positive reply or just play outside.
Be off with you now to the naughty corner for the rest of the day.
All was good till we arrived home last October. On the last day of our trip we had heavy rain from Wagga Wagga. Normally I keep the LNB covered with a freezer bag taped over it. Our dish travels on the rear of our van in the upright position. that's why I was thinking LNB first.
I will keep trying with all of you imputs as well. A lot of folks seem to be replacing their LNB's. I will get it sorted.
Thanks for staying with me on this. I agree with you, if I can continually get up to 74% Quality then something is blocking the signal (Strength).
I thought of trying placing the dish on top of the garage roof (is that better for you Peter). How ever the roof is Colour Bond steel and may act as a ground plane perhaps.
I have ordered a new Satking LNB off E bay $17.99 delivered next Tuesday.
If this does not fix it, I will take the lot (Van) down to our open roof top car park, and see if that makes any difference.
Thanks again Frank, I will let you know the outcome.
Hi Jim
We recently had a failed LNB at home in Central Vic. Our old Altech set top box was difficult to tune also. Our neighbor has a Satking without issues.
So we drove to Melbourne and purchased a new Sharp LNB and Satking. But I'd moved mt dish to try to get reception!
We installed it all but the recommended dish angles on our tv screen are totally wrong. Hence we hit other satellites with zero strength and 40% quality etc. I finally found our satellite and my meter hit 9...up from 3.
As stated be patient to find the right satellite. Ps the satking was much easier to operate. System faultless the last 4 days.
Good luck. Tony

Thanks for staying with me on this. I agree with you, if I can continually get up to 74% Quality then something is blocking the signal (Strength). Do you have Wikicamps? If so use the Direction Finder in that, it will show if you have clear sight of the sat from your 'runway'.

You mentioned Thornlie, is that the Perth one? Can you get to Osborne Park? Go see Access Antennas & take as much of your equipment as you can, they will check it for you.

As I posted last , I had my LNB fail while over in tassie for xmas last year and only came back to Melbourne on Australia day , any way with the failed LNB I also had 70% + quality on my meter but NO signal. Coax cable was OK and i also had 12 Volts @ the end of my cable. It was only when i replaced the LNB that every thing started to fall into place.
I bought my LNB from 'Active Electronics in Hobart ' and payed $19.00 for a new one. Anyway i also got talking ( shop talk, as i have also installed a lot of free to air equipment and also a fair bit of satilight as well, and was telling him of my tail of wo? ) to a antenna teck while i was waiting to get served, and he gave me a couple of second hand Sharp LNB's that came of a couple of his jobs.. I tryed the new LNB against the second hand LNB and the sharp units were alot more sensitive and also a lot more easyer to set the dish up.
I am looking into why the LNB's have failed, will keep you all posted.
I set up my Sat Dish this morning to Re register our Vast SatKing box for our upcoming trip West.
I can get 74-76 in Quality. But Zero 0 on Strength. Try as I may Zero.
It won't lock on to channel 800 so I can't register.
Q. Is my LNB Stuffed OR am I doing something wrong. 9.2 East of North, Elevation 52deg, LNB 37.4 clockwise.
Q. The van is parked up in the cave. Would this affect same I don't think so. Yes the dish is out on the runway.
Any Clues Please.
Worked all the way to WA and back to home in 2016. We replaced it in 2014 with the new Sat King system. Is My LNB Cacus.
Regards Jim
Jim, There are 3 x Satellites very close by Optus C1 and I expect you may be aiming at the wrong Satellite as pointed out by one of the other commentators.
The very, very best thing for you to do is to purchase a Satlink Digital Satellite Finder - yes they are not cheep, but you will live much longer, less blood pressure and a lot more TV viewing and if you have a partner - they will be much happier.
I travel NT, SA, NSW, Vic and Tasmania and would never spend more than 2 minutes setting-up the Dish. I have a Satlink WS-6906 and it is worth its weight in gold. You have a small TV screen in hand, at the Dish and just move the Dish to signal appears - the fine tune the LNB. I have seen several people throw away their dishes, because the get so frustrated trying to set-up.
You can buy these cheep on line for just over $110 - BUT, take my advise and go through a reputable company such as Access Antennas, you will find them on the Internet, pay a bit more, get one with the latest software and excellent support. If you purchase from Access Antennas, by the way, they call it the "Marriage Saver", the Finder will come to you already set-up to lock-in on Optus C1.
One other comment for others who may view this thread. If you are planning to travel to lower parts of Australia such as Tasmania or even parts of Vic and SA. Invest in the larger 80cm Dish. The smaller dishes may be easier to carry and will work in most parts but at the extremities will fail to pick up a signal - Now I know I will get a lot of comments that this is not the case. But I have been parked side-by-side a small dish in Tasmania and they could not receive a signal, swapped my LNB no difference, swapped my larger dish and received signal.
I've been following the whole thing with your sat dish
I hope it will work for you now with the new LNB
It most be an very frustrating thing to deal with

Good morning John, Frank, don, Everybody,
Well I hooked on the van and towed her onto the driveway. Put the dish with new LNB installed on top of the van and started again.74% Quality only.
Nelly fell off the ladder doing so.
So I removed The Satking Box, Cable, and power leeds from the van and set the lot up in D Cave. (Garage).
NOW IF You DO WHAT FRANK SAYS YOU WILL BE BACK ON THE AIR.
At 9deg East of North 50.5 Elevation, 37.5 Clockwise on the LNB. ZERO.
I stayed with it, moving in micro movements. I got one bell then nothing. I stayed with it still. another single bell.
MICRO MOVEMENTS three bells 40 strength. more micros and 80 strength.
Played with the LNB and ended up 93 strength and 52 in quality.
Back on channel 800 YES.
Logged onto onto vast reactivation took all of 30 seconds and we are back in business.
Thankyou Frank and everyone, with all your help.
EXMOUTH here we come.
Regards Jim & Lambie
