Welcome to the gang NEWBIES 34, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have a Colorado twin cab and love it. I chose that instead of the Navara as it had better tow capacity. I think the new Navara have increased the tow capacity though. I also don't like Nissan due to past experience with Civilian mini buses not cars. It was to do with parts not in Aus. Could be all different now.

And it's welcome from us two 2 newbies34
You don't say what year navara so just our experience with my two sons first one bought a new navara about dunno about 6 or 7 years ago it was very weak on take off was very easy to stall the engine on its own had to rev it up quite a bit to get going it also used to " ping " like the old petrol engines did if the timing was wrong , yes we had then check the timing and they recon it was right , me I'm not so sure though , it had engine oil leak problems he sold it at about 90,000 k we later heard that the engine blew up about 10,, k later don't know what the problem was though ,
Second son bought one about two years later new still has it ( although it has only done about 70,000 k as he is a fifo so not home much ) although it's the same engine etc it is a totally different ute to drive it will take off with the engine at an idle has lots more go and doesn't ping on excelleration like other one did
Both were 6 speed manuals apart from that, the other thing I don't like is that the manual gearbox in my opinion it doesn't have a first gear just a couple of second gears it's geared way way way to fast in first with a load like a van behind I would expect the clutch to wear out way to fast because of this very high ratio first gear , now I love my Nissan patrols have two of them so I'm not anti Nissans so if you go with a navara my advice is get an auto gearbox however I know nothing about the auto gearbox performance

Hope this helps

Woody

I have a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder - manual diesel. Yes it has the issue with being able to stall if you don't rev the motor. But we tow a 2.2t van and went clockwise around Au in 2015 with no issues. Our van is single axle, whereas I believe a tandem would be easier on the vehicle.

Do you have a D40 or a D22? I have a D40 and it pulls and controls that weight.

we had a D22 - towed our 18' heritage, then 20' Sterling easily (both vans would have been near 3 ton when loaded) We did add a snorkel and bigger exhaust which gave a bit extra power

We have a 2015 run-out model D22, the last that were made. It tows our 1,500kg van with a fully loaded tub (around 800kg) under a canopy with no problems & great fuel economy.

One of the last ''truck like'' utes to be manufactured before they all went ''soft car like''. A rugged rough ride but sure footed under loaded conditions. Sort of like the Tortoise & Hare.

Hi.

I've been a Nissan 4wd man since '91.. Incl a Navara back in '99.

But my current veh, towing a Tandem 2 ton full height van. is a 2010 D.Max.

Doesn't hardly know van on back and economy plus.

Patrol YES. THE best of all.

Ute??

D,Max preferably. Over ALL of them.
