tow cameras

Was looking at the polaris cameras has anyone got the polaris on their vehicle and van and can comment whether they have had a problem.

I'm not interested in a rear mirror mounted one as the screens are too small for my liking , was looking at one round 5-6 inches that you can swap between cameras with flick of switch

In recent years I've only used Safety Dave.

I've always found his gear to be very good with excellent service and technical help.

You'll find his prices are more competitive than the other 'big names'.

Recently I changed cars so just needed new cables-not a problem, I had them very quickly and he easily identified the system I already had and no problems matching the cable.

Then found I needed an extension cable which he sent no cost by express post and it was my error.

If you Google Safety Dave You'll find he has various kits but armed with that knowledge if you ring him he will make the system to suit you.

I can  totally agree with all that is said by you above Sparkster.

Hi mezza56, I agree with the others I have a Safety Dave with a removable monitor on the dash, I only have the rear camera on the van wired into it but it has the capacity to have 2 cameras if required (tug and van). The other good thing is that it also has sound so someone standing at the back at the van can instruct the driver without needing to use a radio or phone. I posted about a week ago in this section about Safety Dave's after sales service which is also excellent.

I have the Polaris system fitted to the back of my caravan and wired into the in-dash screen on my vehicle via a four core cable between the caravan and the car. I have a switch on the dashboard which sets the screen to the camera or the OEM system. Works well for me. I highly recommend it.

Little Briney where did you get the cable and dashboard switch fitted?  We have a Polaris camera on the back of our new (to us) rig, but no cable for the car, and no monitor to go with it.  Have a reversing camera on the car, and a screen in the dash, so if we could replicate your system we'd be very happy!  Thank you.

Hi Granny May

I had the Polaris system supplied and fitted by my auto electrician, Stephen Pender, in Rutherford. You could call him on 02 4932 7942. My vehicle is a 2012 VX 200 series Land Cruiser and my van is a 2002 Supreme Territory. If you are close, I highly recommend his services. If too far away, he might provide details of parts and suppliers.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much Little Briney and my huge apologies for the late reply.  I'm over in Perth so I'll have to find someone else, but even knowing it's an auto electrician's job is a big help.  Many thanks!!!
