I would recommend that you talk to a Dr. as soon as you can. They can help you to set up a plan to cope, that may include medication, counselling, and mental health plans.
I would NOT just listen to people off of a forum, as each persons trip through life is different, and depression (if that is the problem that you have) needs attention to ensure you have the best outcome.

Although this is a good website to chill out on, as most of us are friendly and as helpful as we can be
I just hope that if I ever have any serious mental problems, that I would still be wise enough to go to a professional, to help me sort things out

Due to physical problems, and being unable to look after myself for a few years I can feel just a little of what people go through, while not being able to see the light at the end of their own tunnel
I also suffer depression, anxiety etc. I'm not a solo traveler BUT know how personal depression is.

My shrink put me on pristiq, which works rather well. Some people cant handle it but thats a matter of how your body is set up and what other meds you take.
I find being alone and having "me time" works a treat. Now this sounds anti social and anti everything else, however I find that when Im ready to socialise I do.
The key is get some help. No shame in seeing a shrink or trickcyclist (psychologist) take on board ONLY the stuff you know will help you, try some others and hit the happy chord.
I sit, listen to music, read, write and just bum about. OH we travel a lot as well. Now that does work well.
Take care and keep a good eye on yourself. Each morning I ask myself "how do you feel today?" Its a good measure.
