The tension on my caravan awning always was not very good, and had gotten quite slack, to the point of me almost having to push it up when rolling it up. I decided to research how to tighten it myself and found not a lot of info online on how to fix. Anyway I pulled the arms off the awning one at a time, and found it a very simple quick job, probably saving some hundreds of dollars. I ended up giving each end an extra one and a half turns to the spring and it is now as it should be, and rolling up quite a bit tighter than it used to. To anyone contemplating this, it is quite doable, and compared to the amount of work to put in a diesel heater, which I have done, if this is 1, the heater is 10.
Cheers, John.

Hey John, do you think that would work in reverse? ours is nearly a finger biter, so much tension it is difficult to release the little lever. cheers and thanks Craig

Craig, yes it would.
I gave mine 3 turns each side first and it was too much, so I backed it off a turn and a half each side and it was just right.
Cheers, John.
