HI just picked up my repaired Van following my 'two step' with a Mildura Servo bowser....
Central Victorian caravan Repairs at Marong did their usual fantastic service/work....whilst there I picked up a
Hayman Reese Multi Fit Tow Ball Spanner which I had not seen before....
If you're like me the only tow ball Nut tightener I've used in the past is an adjustable wrench usually described by mechanics as 'The Nut Fxcker'
This little gem for $24, tightens the tow ball nut..PLUS...undoes tight D Shackles..handy in cccold weather for my wife to use..lol.....fits all Hayman Reese towball tongue bolts and adjustable ball mount bolts & nuts....plus the Hayman Reese Snap Up bracket bolts for your HR Stabilizer Set...very handy if I can now find it when I need it!.....

50mm tow ball nuts are not of a normal metric or imperial size, and even if you do have a spanner large enough (even the HR type spanners) you often can't get the spanner to rotate because of some tow bar obstruction.
The solution is to purchase the unusual sized but easily available socket that you can use with your 1/2" drive socket set (or even just the 1/2" drive non-ratchet bar).
Call into a tools outlet and ask for a one and five sixteenth (1" 5/16), deep, impact socket. Make sure it is a 'deep' one, that will fit over the exposed tow ball threaded shaft.
Expect to pay between $10 to $15.
Takes up very little room and works with your existing tools that you are probably carrying with you anyway.

If you go to a ship's chandler you can buy a little item called a shackle puller. It fits over the screw on the D shackle and makes it really easy for those cold mornings and rusted screws.
